Diabetes and Dental Issues

Were you aware that diabetics are more susceptible to dental issues? Diabetics have a greater chance of experiencing gum disease due to infections, gland dysfunction or inflammation. An increase in glucose in saliva can increase pathogen growth and cause tooth decay. Over an extended period nerve damage may develop. This leads to numbness and tingling in the jaw.

Diabetics must pay special attention to proper dental care. Brush and floss 2 to 3 times per day and maintain regular dental appointments.
