Recovery Part 2

After returning home from the same day surgery center, I was tired and confused about my care, having no idea as to my next move. I read the followup instructions and then proceeded to Google for help. My first challenge was adjusting and arranging the sling provided by the surgery center. Needless to say the sling was all wrong. I found the sling on Google and followed the picture to fit it correctly. The next challenge was resting and sleeping. The assistant that helped me dress asked if I had a recliner. Basically that was her way of saying a recliner would be my best option for sleeping over the next few weeks. Of course no one takes into account that the foot rest for the recliner is on the right side, my surgery side, thus there was no way to control the foot rest with my right surgical arm. My option was to walk around the chair, pull the button, then crawl into the chair. Was this fun? No, it wasn’t. Tilting the chair over or falling were my downfalls. Of course that only lasted one night. I chose the lounge chair attached to the sofa. Believe me, it was also challenging but I made the best of it.
