Circadian Rhythm

According to an article in Circulation Research Vol. 119 No. 1, chronic inflammatory and other metabolic diseases such as atherosclerosis and diabetes are promoted by disruptions in circadian rhythms.

Circadian rhythm disorders are defined by problems with the internal body’s clock. This internal clock is about a 24 hour of being awake and asleep. These rhythm disruptions can be caused by aging, shift work, lifestyle habits (alcohol drug use, medication, caffeine, illegal drug use, artificial light from cell phones, etc.) These disruptions can lead to an early death.
