Diabetics and Blood Donations

Can a diabetic patient donate blood? The answer is yes. First there are preliminary conditions before safely donating. Even though all diabetics are qualified to give donations, it is essential that all bodily functions are under control and person is in good health. Maintaining good blood sugar levels, eating healthy food, exercising regularly and taking prescribed medication will ensure this control.

Screening is done at the blood donation site. Pulse, blood pressure and temperature will be checked and questions will be asked about pre-existing conditions.
