Checking blood sugar regularly can make the difference between life and death and/or complications for the type 2 diabetic. These checks can help in decision making regarding food selections, medications, and physical activity.

The numbers should be recorded daily. This information can determine if particular foods cause blood sugar spikes. This is not a very recognized idea, however different foods affect every person in a variety of ways. These numbers may also be used to determine the effectiveness of activity and medications.
